Established in 1927 as the Bugema Missionary Training School, the institution began by training pastors and church leaders for the Seventh-day Adventist Church in East Africa. Over the decades, it evolved into a modern university, moving to its current location in 1948, and later broadening its curriculum to include secondary education, junior college, and seminary programs.
Today, Bugema University stands as a leader in Adventist education in Uganda, rooted in its mission of academic excellence, moral integrity, and service to society. The upcoming graduation ceremony marks not only the achievements of its graduates but also the university’s enduring legacy and future aspirations in Ugandan education.
