Handover Ceremony of the Dean of Students (Mr. Lowu Francis) , School of Science and Technology

On the 8th of July 2024, Bugema University hosted a momentous handover ceremony to mark the transition of leadership for the Dean of Students, School of Science and Technology. The event, imbued with a spirit of gratitude and anticipation, celebrated the achievements of the outgoing dean and welcomed the new leadership with enthusiasm.

The ceremony commenced with a heartfelt prayer by one of the staff members, setting a reflective and respectful tone. Mr. Yiga Vincent opened the proceedings with a warm welcome address, highlighting the dedication and contributions of the outgoing Dean of Students, Mr. Lowu Francis. He lauded Mr. Lowu for his unwavering commitment to the school and its students, emphasizing the strong foundation he has built over the years.

As the ceremony progressed, staff members and heads of departments were invited to introduce themselves. Some shared brief speeches, adding to the collective appreciation of Mr. Lowu’s tenure. Among the distinguished guests were Vice Chancellor Prof. Kafeero Israel, the outgoing Dean of Students, Mr. Lowu Francis, and the incoming Dean of Students, Madam Margaret N.

Mr. Lowu delivered a moving speech, expressing his gratitude to the team and reflecting on his journey. He spoke fondly of the organization’s achievements and expressed his confidence in Madam Margaret’s ability to lead the School of Science and Technology to even greater heights. His words resonated deeply with the audience, many of whom have witnessed firsthand the positive changes he implemented.

Following Mr. Lowu’s speech, Madam Nagwovuma Margaret addressed the audience. She outlined her vision for the future, emphasizing her commitment to building upon the school’s successes. Her speech was filled with optimism and a clear roadmap for continued progress, earning her a warm reception from the attendees.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Kafeero Israel then took the stage, delivering a speech that acknowledged Mr. Lowu’s exceptional work and offered apologies for any shortcomings of the administration. He encouraged the staff to support Madam Margaret in her new role, fostering a collaborative environment to achieve even more remarkable outcomes.

The symbolic passing of the baton took place with the exchange of tokens of appreciation between the outgoing and incoming deans. This gesture marked the official transition of leadership and was met with applause and well-wishes from the audience.

The ceremony concluded with a final prayer from a staff member, followed by a meal that allowed guests to mingle and share their congratulations and best wishes with both leaders. The atmosphere was one of appreciation, optimism, and excitement for the future.
